Making the Most of Your Outdoor Spaces
It’s officially the middle of summer if you count the time the kids have been out of school and the time left before they go back. Enjoy your summertime in the comfort of your outdoor spaces. Come winter, indoors is the only place you’ll want to be. Take these tips from Connell’s to enjoy the great outdoors.
Welcome home! Spruce up your front entryway. Change or add a fun summertime wreath to your front door to welcome guests. If you have a front porch, give it a makeover. Get some new outdoor furniture, or just add some flowers, plants and accessories. On a budget? New pillows and throws might be all you need.
Look to the left – or right. Is there unused space to either side of your house? Create a patio or stepping stones to your side or back entry. If there are sunny places, plant a small garden for herbs or your favorite summertime veggies. Be eccentric and just plant flowers.
Backyard haven. The backyard is the best place for privacy. Add a patio or deck for family relaxation or entertainment. Plant some trees. Add bird feeders and bird baths to welcome feathered friends. Read about the best plants and bushes to attract butterflies or wildlife and watch your backyard transform into the sanctuary you always wanted it to be.
On the grounds. Have you always wanted a fountain or statue? Perhaps you’d like more plants, trees or shrubs. There are so many resources out there for landscaping inspiration. Many also have step by step instructions if you are challenged in this area.
Entertain. If you have or are building a deck or patio, it’s the best place to entertain guests. But if you don’t have one, don’t let that stop you. Take a look at your more secluded areas and determine how you can set it up for entertainment on sunny days. A few chairs, chaise loungers, pillows, end tables, a grill and a way to listen to some of your fave music will get you going.
Play. Set up a badminton set, bocce ball or corn hole game and let the fun begin. If you have a larger lawn, there is enough room for frisbee or playing catch. Lot’s of trees? The kids can have a blast playing tag or hide and seek.
